Male Breast Reduction

Male Breast Reduction Techniques
Male breast enlargement can be surgically corrected. Gynecomastia correction is usually considered a cosmetic surgery procedure. A variety of techniques are used, depending on the size of the breast, amount of skin present, and other factors. Typical procedures involve incisions around the areola with excision of variable amounts breast tissue, often combined with suction lipection (liposuction) to contour the surrounding chest wall tissues. Power assisted liposuction and ultrasound assisted liposuction are commonly used. In more severe cases, removal of skin with a breast lift may be required. The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis.
Recovery
Typical recovery is 2-3 weeks. A compression garment is often recommended during this time. Some patients may notice minor countour irregularities or sensory changes of the chest or nipple area. Most patients find the improvements in breast contour produce a more masculine chest contour and are less self-consious about this aspect of their appearance.
